Scholastic Art and Writing National American Visions Medal 2023
Juliana Woods (b. 2005) is a visual artist working primarily in acrylic painting. Woods’ work has been shown in multiple international juried exhibitions and has been awarded on the national level. She was invited as a guest artist to the “Is It Me?”exhibition at the Trolley Barn Gallery, and her work was selected for their “Highs of Life” exhibition as well. Her body of work entitled “Lives of Strangers” was shown at the Trolley Barn in December 2022, and her latest series “Truth and Time” was shown at Convey/er/or in January 2024. She was the recipient of the National Scholastic Art and Writing American Visions Award and received an overall silver medal in 2023.
Woods explores the intimacy of memory and the duality of perception and truth through her depictions of the human figure. Her subjects exist in a space between the tangible and imagined; her gentle mark making and fluorescent hues transport them to a dream-like realm that is deeply familiar yet entirely new.
Her work will be shown in this year’s PKX Festival taking place April 18-20 2024.
